SAFE TRICK OR TREAT NIGHT

OLD CHEROKEE HIGH SCHOOL TRACK
The Boys Club will be participating in the Safe Trick-or-Treat Night event on Tuesday. If you can volunteer to come and hand out candy, please contact Beth Grant at 359-5585. There is no theme this year so you can come in costume or wear your normal clothes!
OCTOBER BRINGS LEADERSHIP CHANGES TO THE CLUB
On October 1, 2018 the new Board of Directors was installed at a luncheon at the Chestnut Tree Inn. The Board consists of: President Benny Graves; Vice President Tara Reed-Cooper; Secretary Ashford Smith; Assistant Secretary Shelly Brown; Perry Shell; June Wolfe; Doris Johnson; Tiffani Reed; and Student Representative Dreyton Long. This Board�s term will end on September 30, 2020. The Board of Directors also appointed Greg Owle as the Interim General Manager so that the General Manager�s position could be advertised, applicants interviewed, and a General Manager hired. Greg was the Bus and Truck Department Manager. With this move, Beth Grant, Assistant Manager of the Bus and Truck Department, was named Acting Manager of the department. The Club�s HR Office is also back up and running with the return of Tiffani Reed.

FRELL OWL AWARD NOMINATIONS
Nominations are being accepted for the presentation of the 32nd Frell Owl Award. This award is presented by the Club�s Board of Directors to a person (or persons) who best exemplify the character and accomplishments of the late Mr. Frell Owl, Cherokee educator and civic leader, and to those who have significantly contributed to the welfare of Cherokee children and families. Anyone may submit a nomination. Any person or persons may be nominated with the exception of current Cherokee Boys Club Board members. The person nominated should not be nominated by virtue of their job who is being paid to provide services to children and families.
The closing date for receiving nominations is Friday, November 16th. You may pick up a nomination form from the Receptionist at the Boys Club�s Information Window. Please return the nomination form and any support documents (Marked Confidential) to Ashford Smith, Cherokee Boys Club, P. O. AGELINK CHILD CARE FUNDRAISER
On Friday, November 9th, the Agelink Child Care Department will be hosting a Chili Fundraiser for the children�s Christmas Fund! They will also be selling Pepsi products during the month of November. Please mark your calendars and support your fellow department!
Winter is approaching! The Fuel Department is selling heating fuel to anyone that needs it. Call (828) 359-5590 and ask for Tom Smith or (828) 359-5592 and ask for Colene Ross to sign up for a delivery!
BUS DEPARTMENT NEWS��
The Bus and Truck Department welcomes two new employees!
Welcome to Austin Fish from Haywood County! Austin will also be working with the Bus and Truck Department and the Mowing Crew/Labor Pool.
Welcome also to Tony O�Neal, a former long-term employee with Harrah�s who brings vast knowledge of the food industry (as a Chef)! Tony just passed his test for his �P� and �S� endorsements, so he will begin driving a school bus and charter bus today!
The Bus Department also has two interns from the Mother-Town Earth program with TERO. These two employees will be working primarily in the wash bay but will also be helping in the Bus Department office by answering the phone and radio. Their time with the Club will be for 90 days and they are paid through TERO. If any other department needs assistance that they can provide, contact Beth Grant at 359-5585; she is willing to share!
