The role
What does a Resident Counselor do?
Help create a safe, structured, and supportive environment for the young people who live at the Cherokee Children’s Home.

Minimum qualifications
- Must be at least 21 years old
- High school diploma or GED
- Valid driver’s license with no DUI or DWI convictions
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Ability to relate well to children, youth, and families
- Flexible availability including evenings, weekends, and holidays
- Experience with at-risk youth or residential care is preferred
Helpful experience: Trauma-informed work, behavior management, recreational programming, or outdoor activities.
